Benzofuran | 6-APB succinate
6-APB succinate - also known as 6-(2-aminopropyl) benzofuran or "benzofury" - is a novel empathogen (a chemical that evokes feelings of connectedness and empathy) from the 6-apb succinate class (similar to chemicals such as 5-MAPB and 5-PDB).
6-APB was first synthesized by David Nicholls in 1993, in the hope of finding a non-neurotoxic alternative to MDMA (which can be neurotoxic in humans).
Whether 6-APB is less neurotoxic than MDMA is still controversial, as noted in the September 2020 study "Beyond Ecstasy: Alternative Entactogens to MDMA with Potential Applications in Psychotherapy":
No studies on the neurotoxic potential of Benzofury have been conducted to date.
However, there is some evidence from user reports: It is generally claimed that 6-APB and Benzofury lead to less of a "come-down", a phase following the acute effects of a drug characterized by depressive thoughts, lack of energy and general malaise, than MDMA.
We strongly recommend that you read this study if you are interested in the pharmacology of 6-apb succinate.
It is the most comprehensive analysis to date of this chemical class and its similarities and differences to MDMA and a very interesting read! Rchemsport
What is the effect of benzofuran? | 6-apb succinate
The subjective effects of Benzofury are generally described as very similar to those of MDMA and 5-MAPB.
It is often perceived as slightly more stimulating than 5-MAPB, while 5-MAPB is usually described as more euphoric.
6-APB has a significantly longer effect than MDMA. Most experiments typically last between 7 and 10 hours.
The duration of effect of MDMA is three to six hours, which often leads to compulsive post-dosing. Both 5-MAPB and benzofurans are generally reported to have a less severe comedown than MDMA.
The most commonly reported effects of 6 APB include:
- Stimulation and sedation
- Spontaneous physical sensations
- Feelings of connectedness and increased empathy
- Increased stamina
- Color enhancement
Possible side effects are
- Increased body temperature
- Stronger vision
- Increased sweating
